Blog to Evangeline: For Christmas I gave your Daddy a promise I'd update this for you--he's been taking videos of you every week since you were born. You're five months old tonight, Christmas Eve, and it's about time we start. Rolf documented for your reading pleasure someday our dating history and the first few years of our marriage, so it's about time I get on the 'shtick.
To make a long story uber-short--and before I include your birth story of pure awesomeness--here's what we've been up to: I finished my postdoctoral fellowship 9 months pregnant in MA, your daddy started researching for UCLA, I flew three weeks before your b-day to LA to be with him, we stayed in a cute studio daddy decorated with candles and chocolate the night I flew in. Then, the fun began: we had you (best day EVER!), we flew to NYC and hung out with you on the subways/central park, took a bus to MA to see old friends, then drove up to Vermont for a month in a cabin, enjoying you all day/night while I occasionally went into work with you and daddy in MA. Fortunately, Hurricaine Irene kept us pretty housebound so we could play with you and watch sunsets, visit dairy farms to introduce you to milk-cows, and apple orchards with a hayride and petting zoo. Finished the postdoc, and away we went to LA/OC in October Fall Semester. We hung out at LA temple housing without internet/tv so Daddy could walk to school and we'd be close to him. When the Christmas lights came up around the temple, we walked the grounds, then said goodbye because we left after the semester for Austin, and then Provo. Oh yeah, we drove to Provo for Thanksgiving to see your aunts/uncles for the first time, and they ate you up too. Don't ask me about the stretch from Vegas to LA Thanksgiving Weekend. Which brings us up to speed: you're about to have your first Christmas with us, we love you so much our Evie.
